IRL Videos
Our IRL videos feature young scientists, not much older than your students, answering questions on all the key topics in your curriculum. We don’t script, which means these clips are natural, unintimidating and chock-full of discussion starters.
These videos work wonderfully as an introductory activity and/or as a lesson round-up. Under Teacher Guides you'll find suggestions for question to put to your students as they watch, such as:
- Which pieces of scientific terminology did you pick out? Do you recognize these from previous units?
- Did anything in their answer surprise you?
- What real-world phenomena or applications did they mention?
- How would you rate their answer?
Most importantly, research shows that near-peer learning opportunities like this increase student understanding and recall.

Written by subject experts and enlivened with animation and a good dose of humour, our 2-Minute Masterclasses are the perfect way to introduce a topic's detail. If you're a 5E teacher, you can't go wrong kicking off your Explain phase with one of these!
