How do I correct duplicate student accounts?

If your student is having trouble logging in or seeing the work you have assigned, it may be because they have two accounts instead of one.

Option 1 - Search by student name

  1. Log in to my.thisisschool.com and navigate to the search box. Click on the drop-down arrow and select 'Students', enter your student's first and last name, and then hit enter.

  2. Can you see more than one student profile? If so, your student does indeed have duplicate accounts!

  3. Next, take a look at your student's Last Login date for each account, visible below their name, and identify the least frequently used account.

Make a note of any classes that the less-used account is part of to ensure these are transferred later - see the instructions on reallocating classes below.

      4.   Click Archive next to the account to be removed, and hit Confirm when prompted.

              That's it, your student's duplicate account has now been archived!

Option 2 - Search through Student Roster

  1. Click on your name in the top right-hand corner and select Student Roster from the dropdown menu

  2. Choose Possible duplicate students from the ‘Filter’ dropdown menu

    Here, you’ll see a list of students who look like they might have two accounts!

  3. Next, take a look at your student's Last Login date for each account, visible to the right of their name, and identify the least frequently used account. Clicking on your students name will take you through to their activity log which will allow you to see further details of their usage, to help make sure you archive the correct account!

Make a note of any classes that the less-used account is part of - see the instructions on reallocating classes below.

To remove an unneeded account

  1. Check the checkbox to the right-hand side of the account
  2. Scroll up to the top of the page and click Archive selected followed by Confirm

    That's it, your student's duplicate account has now been archived!
